The People They Were Meant To Be

There are so many stories coming out of Ukraine. Amongst them stories of how people are holding onto their religious beliefs. As they stood surrounded by death and destruction a man and a woman were asked how they could reconcile the reality before them with their beliefs in a good and righteous God. The man looked at the woman. The woman looked at the man. They said nothing. They both cried. Even their faith had been stolen from them.
I am starting to feel like a “sample stalker”, hiding in the bushes awaiting the arrival of the latest Javolenus offering!
They burnt their lips on the tongues of angels
They might have seemed confused and unstable
And their doubts were magnified and hung upon the altar
But their faith was strong it would not falter
Its a long road back to where they once had started
A place where many souls have now departed
The stepping stones will lead them to the sea
And one day they’ll meet the people they were meant to be
In the quiet coastal village the church was shaking
Inside Gods voice was silent the silence chastening
The devotees talked loudly of his leaving
And someone said he’s in the shadows but he’s not receiving
Three streets down where the school once stood is Matthew
Eyes of fire broken desire creeping from the shadows
Someone said there’s hope beyond the cities
But Matthew said its not hope its only pity
